 The Rosina tradition began in 1963 as a small store-front sausage business in Buffalo, New York servicing neighborhood meat markets, supermarkets and restaurants. This family-owned-and-operated business was founded by James Corigilano and named after his wife Rose, which in Italian translates to Rosina.
In the early 1970’s, the development of pre-cooked meatballs, from Rose’s family recipe, significantly accelerated the company’s growth.
Rose and James’ sons Frank and Russell joined the company in the mid-1970’s as the business continued to grow. In 1981 a new, larger facility was purchased which allowed Rosina to expand into new markets and make their products available nationally. In 1997, Russell became President and Frank became Executive Vice President as they assumed responsibility for the day to day operations. James is Chairman of the Board and Rose; well she remains the inspiration and a really great Italian-American grandmother.
Continuing our mission of growth and strengthening our position in the Italian frozen foods category, Rosina Holdings, Inc. has made two key acquisitions since 2000. Celentano Brothers of Verona, New Jersey; a company with a similar history and rich in its’ family tradition, acquired in March 2000. The Celentano product line allowed Rosina to expand into frozen Italian entrees, filled pasta, eggplant products and vegetarian and organic frozen entrees.
In July 2006, Rosina Holding, Inc. announced the acquisition of two more frozen pasta brands, Italian Village and Floresta. Under both labels numerous frozen pasta items, such as ravioli, tortellini, gnocchi, stuffed rigatoni and cavatelli are available throughout the United States. A lot has changed at Rosina since 1963, but one thing has remained – the Rosina tradition of quality, consistency and service continues to delight customers into the 21st century.
